For as long as conrad-johnson has been producing it's world-renowned state of the art audio instruments, it has also been adapting the technologies and construction techniques responsible for those products and applying them to a more affordable, but equally discrimination, line of components. The conrad-johnson Classic vacuum-tube preamplifier honors its proud heritage of musically accurate moderately priced preamplifiers which have displayed the conrad-johnson name.

The Classic preamplifier is available as either a line-stage only, or with an optional phono stage. Controls include a five-position input selecto4r switch, a precision level control and a power switch. Line stage gain of 22dB is provided by a zero-feedback single triode amplifier. Designed to accommodate low to medium output phono cartridges, the phono stage has 54 dB of gain, accomplished by two cascaded amplifiers with passive phono equalization and no loop feedback.

DC plate voltages are supplied by low ac impedance discrete regulators, designed to prevent the power supply from imposing its own colorations on the audio signal. A regulated filament supply further isolated the unit from ac line voltage fluctuations.

All conrad-johnson products are carefully hand assembled and each is thoroughly tested to assure conformity to our exacting performance standards. C-j's confidence in these components is reflected in their three year limited warranty covering labor and parts. Service is a top priority at conrad-johnson. In the event that a product does require service, it will be handled promptly and efficiently.
