Traditional audiophiles have often shied away from home theater and multi-channel or have been forced to have a separate, dedicated two-channel system.  conrad-johnson has created two components are guaranteed to satisfy the most serious two-channel listener and open them up to the vast enjoyments of home theater and multi-channel music.

The biggest issue with which most designers have to cope in digital processors is keeping digital noise from corrupting the analog signal path. CJ gets around this issue by designing a purely analog six channel preamplifier.  At this point in time, most quality DVD and SACD multi-channel players have the processing on board.  In fact, for SACD, you must use the player's on-board processing if you're going to enjoy the full benefits of SACD's DSD digital processing.

The MET 1 is a full-function, audiophile preamp with two six channel inputs, this keeps you prepared when Dolby True HD and DTS-HD make their appearance.

The conrad-johnson MET1 is designed to take full advantage of the 5.1 analogue outputs of high quality, multi-channel DVD, DVD-A, CD, SACD, Blu-Ray, and HD DVD source components.  In addition, you can add up to three digital sources (cable box, satellite, etc.) to the MET1 with the addition of Midiland’s  digital decoder. ($285) For your two channel gear, there are 3 additional two channel inputs.  For tubes, it uses 6 incredibly dimensional, Made in Britain, Mullard M8080 input tubes and cj's usual extensive array of their highly sought after capacitors.

The MET150 is using exactly the same design as the new ET250 Enhanced Triode amplifier.  Making 150 watts times five, the MET150 is simply one of the most musically accurate amplifiers ever designed that can also handle home theater/multi-channel sound duties.

For the techno-geeks, there is not much that equals the thrill of taking the cover off a piece of cj gear.  With most products, you see a clean layout and nice parts, but it's sometimes hard to see what justifies the cost.  Not so with cj.  Taking the cover off the MET1 for the first time was mind-blowing.  I counted over 50 of cj's proprietary (and expensive) capacitors. I know from pricing them out for a personal project that caps of this quality average $30 each and some of them much more.  That's $1500 just in caps, folks.  Add to this premium input/output connectors that look to be sourced from Cardas and I'm figuring another $500 just on jacks.  Then, there is the beautiful, milled aluminum fascia.  cj has always delivered the real high-end goods and these components are no different.

It was the same with the MET150, it is very easy to see where the money goes.  With cj, you're getting some of the best available.  The sound is some of the very best available, too.

We are pleased to in the special position of having been able to buy a number of these components from conrad-johnson at a significant savings.  We are pleased to pass these savings along.
